Card Sharks Week 3 Challenge 3

So I completed my card before the deadline and took a picture of it before I ran off to work so I could upload it there. Do you think that the camera made it out the door with me? Of course not! Anyhow I am going to post it anyhow! I am in last place so far anyhow. :( I think my total points are off so hopefully they will correct that. But minimally it is only off by 1 point. However since I am late with this card that will probably seal my fate. Nonetheless I have enjoyed completed the cards.

This challenge was for the Hearts card game and was to make a Love/Valentines card. This is the card I made using an old Life Preservers kit and some Shimmerz Mist.

Not my usual style and I have never been big fan of Heartsy stuff but I do love the misted heart. I hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by.

So today is my day to host the Advent Calendar. There is so much going on with My Scrapbook Nook right now. The December kits are being delivered to homes as we speak. It is as delicious as the paper line in it suggests "Peppermint". The Design Team posts several challenges each month. As a matter of fact there is a Card Shark challenge going on now. In addition to that there was a November card kit that is inspiring many of us to get our Christmas cards completed. To say those cards are gorgeous is an understatement.

Card Shark Challenge Week 2

I have really enjoyed participating in My Scrapbook Nook Card Shark challenges. This is week 2 which presents with 3 new challenges. The first one represents the game BRIDGE. For this card we had to make a card with a nature theme and incorporate wood or nails. The idea being to use things one would use to build a bridge. Here is what I have come up with this challenge.

I used the wood colored alphas, a big floral embellie, and recycled a Prima packaging.

The second challenge was representing the game "Kings in the corner". We had to make a card fit for royalty. I tried to think outside of the box for this one. I figured since my DH thinks he is king of his castle that I would make a card for him.

And the final challenge of this week was for the game BINGO. Although it isn't a card game per say one has to use cards to play bingo. For this challenge we had to have a grid on our card.

I loved the grid pattern of this background paper. Most of this stuff was from the December 2010 Nook kit. I cut the chipboard embellishment apart for the words Merry and Christmas as I did not like the big chipboard piece by itself.

Card Shark Challenge

I am participating in the Card Shark Challenges over on the Scrapbook Nook site. The first (aka ZERO) challenge was to implement a stamp, hidden sentiment, black, and ribbon. Here is my take on that challenge using my Edward Stamp.

I used some of my Copics. I have not taken any classes but I think I did fairly well.

Challenge 1 was using Phase 10 card game as a sample Your first phase was to use one paper background, block of paper or card stock, one strip of paper or trim, and one decorative edge then take a picture. For phase two you embellish that card base. Here is Phase One:

I believe this was the December 2010 Nook kit and I just added some Red card stock and Cat's Eye ink.

Challenge Two was Solitaire challenge to create a card to cheer up someone lonely!

I love how this card turned out. I decided to keep the kettle its natural wood tone. This is a Nook kit from Summer 2010. I think it was June but please don't hold me to that.

And the last challenge (Challenge 3) for this week is the Uno Challenge. For this challenge your card has to have the number 1 displayed on it. As you can see my ribbon has ones all over it.

This is also the December 2010 Nook kit.

I have really enjoyed these challenges thus far. I was worried that while I was on vacation that I would not have ample supplies to do this but I have. These cards are also helping me get my Christmas cards done. I have done 45 thus far but have about that many more to do. Thanks for letting me participate in the Card Shark challenge. Such a time as this......

This has been a hard day. My grandmother went home to be with the Lord this morning. It appears that she passed in her sleep. I am so thankful to God that this is the case. It seems cliche to say this but I have never met another woman like my grandmother. She made EVERYONE feel special. She had several children and not once did she make one feel more important than the other. I remember as a child her and my grandfather. She was the submissive wife. One I strive to be. She would always have one of the grandchildren take grandfather his plate after she made it. More times than not it included a tomato biscuit. She taught me what a true mother and grandmother is. She is the most unselfish person I know. She was a hard worker. Up to her final days she would do all she could to help others. She could not sit while someone else made dinner. She insisted and would not take no for an answer. And don't even think you could visit her house and not eat. She could whip up a delicious, massive meal so fast. I think she had a magic wand. And her faith. It was her foundation. She didn't tell others what they should do. She led by example. I have always been raised and taught biblically that no human is perfect. Only Jesus is perfect. But my grandmother is as close to perfect as any human can be.

I sit here now missing her, wishing I had visited her more. Easy for me to say that now. Don't take your loved ones for granted. It is hard to make everyone happy but do your best. Give your all. Treat others as you want to be treated. I wish I could give her one more hug. One more kiss. Every time I saw her recently she was so fragile and confused I just wanted to lie next to her and just hold her. I wanted to be in her mind. Be where she thought she was. All I can think of now is that she is with papa. I just see her face light up when she sees Gods face then papas. And her childrens. I know she is happy! She has earned her wings. She always had wings but God made them visible to her now.

I hope our family can come together. Be united like I remember as a young child. I love EVERY one of my aunts and uncles. Do I always agree with what they say or do? NO! But they are family and I love them. I want us to be cohesive as granny would want us to be. Please pray for us.

I can't believe it has been months since I have posted on here! So much has been going on in my life since May 28th. I will spare you all the details but do want to thank those that know what has been going on for your prayers.

My Little Sketch Blook Toot

I have been chosen to design a couple times this year with My Little Sketch Blook sketches. I am so excited as I love her sketches. Here is a page I created using one of Liz's sketches.

This uses Pink Paislee products and American Crafts Thickers. The flower shape was from an Accucut machine at the Memories Galore. The photo is of a dear friend who graduated from nursing school last May.

American Crafts Green Challenge

So sorry for the hiatus. I have been without my laptop since March 10th. My DD dropped my laptop and did a number on it so the Geek Squad has been repairing it. I got it back last night and am playing catch up now. A dear friend Jessica let me know about the American Crafts Green challenge this past weekend at the Scrap Clinic. You had to use a minimum of 2 green American crafts products. I love the Junior collection and instantly knew it would be a perfect fit for the photos I have of DD in her cheerleading uniform. I also used some of the Thickers for my title. You know I love a Thicker.... sigh!!!!!!

Scrap Clinic was held at Memories Galore this past weekend. Sharon hosted the crop. Jessica, Angela, Von, and I attended and boy did we have a blast. Sharon did a fabulous job setting up the crop. She was very generous with prizes. Von brought our March kits. What more could a girl want? Seriously. So right away I worked on my Design Team projects followed by my Valentine ATC's for the swap. Here are my creations:

I used the Main Kit. I have to be honest. I was a little apprehensive about using these papers. But once I opened the kit and started cutting I could not stop. They are very user friendly. And the way they are designed honestly help get the creative juices flowing. And I love, love, love the Riff Raff chipboard title. I adored the natural tone with the paper so I kept it just as it was. I used some American Crafts markers to color in the bow and flower on the paper and a Martha Stewart loopy punch. The sepia tone was perfect for this paper collection.

I am hosting the Scrapbooking Your Journey on Life Preservers and this is the page I created for the first lesson. We had to choose a word that resonates within us. That we thought people would see when they see us. I chose the word "faith". I also used the March 2010 Life Preservers stamp as well. I hand cut the diecut under the title. I added a Prima that Angela was kind enough to give me.
I loved Jessica's Martha Stewart loopy punch. I am on the look out for one of my own now. I used that punch on the card below as well as my Stampin Up circle scalloped punch.
The only additions to this card are the Making Memories glitter frame that I actually won at the Scrapclinic crop and some Stickles in the largest flower. For my greeting I cut the saying out of the bottom of the paper. The butterfly is from the March Life Preservers stamp. I also added some BG bling to the butterfly.
And my Valentine ATC Swap. I used a CM corner rounder, March 2010 stamp set, Stickles, Diamond Glaze, Stampin Up stamp, and February 2010 Main Kit.

Here is the ScrapClinic Life Preserver girls. It is a horrible photo of me but what do you do? There was one of my snorting from laughing so hard. I deleted that bad boy with the quickness. From back row left to right is Sharon, Angela, Jessica, me, and Von.

Dirty FITgirl's Blog Hop & Winter ATC's

Life Preservers February Crop Creations

I hadn't shared my creations from the Life Preservers crop yet so here they are:

This is probably my most favorite page I have done in awhile. SEI patterned paper, Basic Gray overlay and alphas, 7 gypsies, Glimmer mist, Prima flower, Making Memories metal clip, Rosa Moka alphas. This was for the Let the Latte Inspire You challenge.

This page is from a summer Life Preservers kit and it was for the Early Bird Sketch Challenge that Sandra posted. Some photos of me and Emma at Camp Oak Hill.
This page was for Jodi's 1 hour sketch challenge on day 1 of the crop. I believe this was a January 2009 LP kit.

One of the make n takes that I posted was to make a hot cocoa holder. Here is the sample I made. Winter Wonderland cricut cartridge, Basic Gray, Rusty Pickle, and Prima.
I will be honest with you in that I do not care for this page at all. But the message on it is more powerful than the art. This was for the "Love is...." challenge. This was a LP mini album kit.
This was for Laura Lee's An Eye for Love challenge. I have had this chest radiograph for awhile and have been wanting to use it and it finally happened. You had to use your eye color (mine is blue) with a Valentine color. A perfect opportunity for me to scrap a work related page. I wanted it simple so it would not take away from the x-ray. The first picture is held up to the light so you can appreciate the background.

For Jodi's second 1 hour sketch challenge I killed the rest of this LP mini kit. Also added some woven MM alphas that I have had for a long, long time.
This was a challenge from Sharon Those Old Winter Blues where you had to do a monochromatic page. It is so monochromatic I can't even see the title. I love these pictures of Emma at the beach a couple of years ago.

Scrap Bachelor Week 2

I applied for Sassy Lil Sketches DT and although I did not make it here are the pages I did based on sketches provided. I really loved the sketches. On this page I use KI Memories (I think), Thickers, Maya Road, Prima, and Queen & Company.

Another Sassy Lil Sketches page. I used some BamPOP, Prima, Thickers, and a felt flower from Michelle . This title is a question I ask myself constantly especially when her expressions flip flop the way they do.
This page is for Week 2 of Scrap Bachelor. Based on a sketch I drew. I used Chatterbox, MME, and Thickers. The challenge was to use blue.

Scrap Bachelor Week 1

So week 1 of Scrap Bachelor is upon us. The challenge was to scrap one of your families pastimes. I have never had a green thumb. But my DH is a jack of all trades. He is diligent in the upkeep of our yard and is trying to teach me. This past mothers day he bought some more plants for landscaping and that is what we did. We haven't gotten Emma into the planting much but she does enjoy to play outdoors. For this page I used Stuck! Sketches January 1st sketch.

If you wanted to be in the running for a prize Sunday you could do a second page of something you enjoyed to do as a child. I loved looking through my old pictures and reminiscing. I used a Sketchy Thursday Sketch Jan 21st for this particular sketch. The photos are of me while in elementary school where I played softball. I actually played softball all up through high school. I did not play in high school itself but rather for a county league at that point. I titled this page softball star however it is a joke. I loved to play but was not spectacular by any means. But as you can see on my journaling I had fun and that is what mattered most. Thanks for looking!

Someone asked awhile back for ideas on how to store their Stickles. I have heard you store them upside down but I do not and have never had any problems with them. I purchased this tiered stand from a Home & Garden party if I remember correctly. but it holds my Stickles, Shimmerz, Glimmer Mist, Maya Mist, Primas, etc. I love it!

Now as far as scripture goes I have had this to post for awhile but have had a rotten past week that will deserve another post at another time. Let's just say my word of 2010 "reflect" has come in handy. Let me suffice to say that the Lord brought this scripture to me at a time like this. He knows his plans for me. And thank goodness I can take comfort in that. It is his will not my own. Here is my SEEKING SCRIPTURE part 2:

"My daughter, you are my workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works. I've already prepared you in advance for everything I've planned especially for you to do." Ephesians 2:10

I feel so blessed that I have a father who loves me unconditionally. What an honor that he is using me as part of his master plan. And despite the ugly things that are going on in todays society he makes good from it. I don't have to see it to believe it. That my dear is FAITH!!

I can't believe I have not posted this yet. My word for 2010.... "reflect". I included definitions for the word in case I needed a reminder. This is using November Life Preservers Main Kit.. SEI Moravia.

One of (if not the) oldest Life Preserver kit I own. I used it on the last card I posted on here. I have gotten great use out of this. It was done for the New Years Eve crop color challenge and a challenge amongst my cousin, friend, and I at our little crop together.

Sorry for the shadows on the photo. I do hope to scrapbook some tomorrow. From Here to Scrapternity is having their monthly crop this weekend. Maybe I can participate for a challenge or two.

Seeking Scripture Week # 1

So that is what I have decided to name my challenge I have given myself and will share with you if you so choose. I will post a verse here each week probably on Wednesdays. I plan to commit this word to my heart.

The first bible study I am doing this year is Breaking Free by Beth Moore. I am doing it by myself. I am not doing this to be introspective but rather extrospective. I want to get to know my father more. My relationship with him is to grow. He is always there for me. I need to not pray for things I know to be true but pray bigger things so he can do bigger things through me.

So without further ado here is my verse for week # 1:

John 14:21 (New International Version)

²¹Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."

This seems appropriate for the New Year doesn't it? I hope you can join me!

I hope that you all have a wonderful 2010! I know 2009 has brought some challenges to so many of us. I seek comfort in his word when I worry about these earthly things. Jeremiah 29:11 always comforts me. If you don't know that verse I encourage you to go look it up. I don't typically do resolutions but I am going to try to implement change this year. I want to get more into God's word and seek his plan for my life! His word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path!

I just completed a couple of pages for a mini crop being held at Life Preservers. I posted a sketch challenge for it.

I hope you all are having a wonderful Christmas! We were blessed this year by having a somewhat white Christmas. Although it did not snow today we have snow on the ground from the snow we had a few days ago. A whopper of a snowfall for us too. Very very exciting. To top off this wonderful blizzard we had my postal carrier delivered me a fun box Monday. He delivered the December Life Preservers kits. So here are a couple of pages I completed yesterday using the December Alternate kit and add-on. That Sassafras was stupendous!!

Great News

I have been walking on air today! I received the most wonderful news today. Von has asked me to step in on the Life Preservers Design Team. I think I have told you all how I felt about these wonderful kits that Von puts out. But the team and message board ladies that she has are a family...my family. I am honored to be asked to work alongside of them. Thank you Von from the bottom of my heart.

From Here 2 Scrapternity

I participated in a online crop on From Here to Scrapternity this past weekend. Yes I should have been making Christmas cards and in fact I did make a few. But I have several more to make.

This page was done for a Sketch Challenge. I used Basic Grey Porcelain collection and my Home Accents Cricut cartridge.
This was for a "countdown" challenge. 5 pictures, 4 patterned papers, 3 embellishments, 2 word title, and 1 creative journaling. The 5th photo, 4th patterned paper, and journaling is behind the Santa Claus envelope which is what I grabbed from Macy's when Emma dropped her letter so Santa. They had those there for the children to write but Emma had already written hers and sealed it. So I took that one for scrappin. :) For the page I used Bazzill, Brenda Walton, Rusty Pickle alphas, and Imaginsce. Here is Emma dropping off said letter.

This challenge was to use the contemporary Christmas colors which just so happen to be my favorite. Red, dark green, cream, and gold. Red Bazzill, Imaginsce, and Thickers. Actually this came from same kit (don't remember which one..sorry) as the previous page.
And this page was for a One Word Challenge. They gave you several words to choose from and you had to journal 20+ words. Not crazy but my handwriting but it is mine ya know?! I used some Bazzill cardstock that I found in the local Michaels and some MME paper that Von at Life Preservers sold a few months back. Also my infamous Thickers. I love me some Thickers.

So there was a Punch challenge too which fit in perfectly for my design for my Christmas cards I had planned to do. This Cosmo Cricket paper Von also sold a few months ago. I love this collection. The punch and stamp is from Stampin Up.

My entry for the LPS Blog Card Sketch Contest

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I had to work Thanksgiving Day however we celebrated the following day. It was a delicious meal if I say so myself. So now it is finding recipes for leftover turkey. We have done turkey hash. Tomorrow is turkey pot pie. Then I think we will be turkey'd out. I completed all of the November 2 a week challenge with no skips. So the creative juices have been flowing from me recently. Let me show you a touch of what I have done.

First off Life Preservers is doing a card sketch contest for November. Here is my card I just completed for that using the November Card Kit. I am not a big Graphic 45 fan but really loved how this turned out. Took the picture at night so it isn't the greatest.

I did this page using a 52 Sketches 52 Weeks sketch. I just got word that Julie will not being doing this site next year. I have just really gotten into her sight so I am a little bummed.
I made mini albums for the coaches for the Comets cheerleaders. 10 to be exact. The star-shaped album was for the director. I used my Bind It All, 7 Gypsies stickers, Shimmerz mist, Thickers, Sports Mania cricut cartridge, and some Basic Grey.

I utilized the Studio Calico December 2008 kit for this page done for my Willow Traders 2 a week challenge using a sketch provided.
Lastly I joined another kit club. The Making Memories paper did it. I love their paper. This is the December Kit of The Scrapbook Nook. I am not crazy about the bag that the kit came in. It is not reseal-able and falls apart but other than that I am pleased. The message board on there has a wonderful group of ladies and they have some amazing stuff posted that the DT has done with this kit.

As you can see I have been scrapbooking tons of Christmas pictures. Some are from a couple years ago. But it feels good to get these pictures done. Thanks for perusing my creations.

Twelve Fridays Giveaway

Twelve Fridays is doing another weekend getaway in Pigeon Forge, TN. You now have a chance to win an entry to the event. It was great last year. I completed an entire 12 by 12 album. The product they used was amazing. The food was decent. And the ladies were a hoot! I would love to go again. We just have to wait and see. But if you are looking for a fun getaway check it out.

Also I finished the October THAW challenge with NO skips. Yes you heard me right NO skips. I have come to realize should I ever want to put a dent into my photographs I need to do more than one picture one page layouts.

I hosted a challenge on Life Preservers for their crop weekend before last. My challenge was to find someone whose album started with same letter as yours and lift that page. I got to lift 1CC (Chris) and what an honor it was. Go to Life Preservers to see her original page.

This page was done for one of the Willow Traders challenges to use either denim or predominantly blue on your page. I really like how this turned out.
For the Life Preserver crop a sketch was drawn by ScrapSketch's Stephanie Vaughn. Here is my utilization of that Sketch!
And one of the THAW challenges was to take a magazine and "lift" a page out of it. This is the magazine and page that I lifted from with the page I created to follow. A Scrapbook Trends magazine was used and the page is from Maria Burke.

Absenteeism

If I were to be graded on my blogging then I definitely would get the big fat "F". Not only have I not been updating this blog but I have not been reading others much either. Not that I do not wish to but there just does not seem to be enough hours in the day. Not much has changed in my life. Emma is back in school. Summer was fun but brief. I miss my baby girl during the day. Ansel turned 2 last Tuesday. Emma wanted to bake him a cake. Yes you read correctly.... a cake.

It was made with ingredients so that we and/or Ansel could eat it. LOL I passed however. Emma started horseriding lessons Wednesday. Need to get her prepared for when Ruby is broken and trained. That is in the distant future. She learned a lot her very first lesson.

I have been scrapbooking up a storm. I was Guest Design Team for September for Life Preservers for winning a sketch challenge.

Von from Life Preservers is so attentive to our wishes and wants. I begged for the Prima Rebellious line and she happily obliged. It just so happened that my month to be GDT was the month the kit with the Prima came in. I knew it would be perfect for Emma's Palace Idol party. This picture makes it look lopsided but it is not IRL. I used masking with alphas and stickles for part of my title. I thought it was something different.

I just hope I gave this product justice. I love this kit!
Emmas cheerleading organization had a yard sale. Someone was selling this frame but it was white, dusty, and had old silk flowers in the bottom part. So it screamed "Alter me!". And that I did. I used an 8.5 by 11 picture from visit to Strawberry patch and one of the Life Preserver kits for this. And I painted the frame with some acrylic paint. This was one of my submissions for a Design Team call that Von had. I made First Alternate. What a blessing!
This is the page I did using a sketch from PageMaps that Von used for Life Preservers. This is the page that I won GDT for September with. Some of our summer pictures from the lake.

Right now I am participating in a challenge on Willow Traders. Basically it is challenging us to get several pages done a month. I am really enjoying it. This was from week one where we had to use all the letters of the alphabet on a page. It came to me pretty quickly to use the negative part of a page of Sassafras Alphas for my background. I love how this turned out.

I purchased a kit off of ScrapLove quite awhile back from a dear friend. During the Big Scrapper House challenge on Life Preservers I assembled this mini album.
Another submission of mine for the Life Preserver Design Team call. I used a LP kit that had the Scenic Route Garden Grove. I am so bummed that they are closing their doors. They have always been a favorite of mine.
This page below was from the Life Preserver Big Scrapper House challenge. I think it was to use circles but can not exactly recall. I also used the Scenic Route LP kit.
My ATC cards from a swap that was done on Life Preservers. I am not sure if I am 100% sold on ATC's or not.

I had a wonderful weekend. Not only was it National Scrapbook Day but I got to spend the weekend with Emma with no obligations for dance, sports, or parties. On Saturday Emma and I scrapbooked in the morning. Poor thing has such a short attention span she didn't even finish one page. I participated in the Life Preservers online crop. Von is starting a new contest so I did the first challenge and the early bird sketch challenge. Here are my creations:

I used Basic Grey Boxer for this page.
This is not my favorite card I have ever done by far. But I love BAM pop. I added an October Afternoon rubber embellishment and a Daisy D rub-on. And some Hambly on there as well.

As soon as Emma finishes her page I will post it. She was so cute using my Page Maps book for inspiration and my Cricut. I wish she would get as passionate about it as I am. Later on that evening we went to see the new Hannah Montana movie. I have to say it was very cute. I am not a Billy Ray Cyrus fan at all but anything for my child. The child had a great story
line. Miley is so cute and it is amazing to see her bloom as a role model for our young girls.

Then Sunday we went to Seaman's Orchard to pick some strawberries. We have been talking about this for years but never get around to it. We even picked strawberries in the rain. They are so tasty. Some of the best strawberries I have ever tasted. We took some to my mother. She is home sick now so we went to visit her and Ruby. Dad is in Costa Rica. So NOT fair! LOL Anyhow mom is on a vegetarian diet. Her cholesterol has been problematic for the past couple of years. She is really sticking to this diet. The oral medications for cholesterol has such bad side effects we are hoping the diet is effective. I leave you with some pictures from the strawberry patch.

Oh one more thing. I have to tell you how awesome Maggi is. She is holding us accountable on LP to update our blogs. I am attempting a weekly update. You know how that is a challenge for me. Thanks Maggi for the reminder. LOL

Long time no see!

WOW I knew it had been awhile since I posted on my blog but February? Oopsies! I know daily is unrealistic to me but I need to pick one day a week to post. Not much new going on in my life. So I will just share some recent creations. This first one is a page that I lifted from a magazine. Sorry I do not recall from whom. But I did this page at the Scrappers Dream Vacation I went to back in March.
I also did the following page at the SDV (Scrappers Dream Vacation). I used my Cricut a lot that weekend.
Another creation from the weekend from a sketch challenge I provided for me and my 3 friends who went to SDV with me. This is using a Studio Calico kit.
And this final page is for the second page I completed for Miss Hippy Chick. She provides occasional sketches and I design a page based on that sketch. This is a picture of dd with her new fishing pole at Rodanthe, NC. And she wanted me to make sure that you knew that aforementioned fishing pole "lights up".
Last weekend I was at a Life Preservers weekend crop held in Glasgow, KY. Mindy provided a card sketch challenge. I made this card for my father who at the time was hospitalized for pneumonia. Yeah this past month has been CRAZY. I had a blast in KY but hated being away from my dad when he was sick. And I don't see myself driving 8.5 hours to go to a crop again. That was a little much. The bed and breakfast we had it at was amazing. The owners are the most amazing couple. They love the Lord and their labor of love resolves around serving him. The name of the place was The Narrow Way. The food was nothing short of amazing. I thought I was a decent cook until I ate there and I don't even come close.

I hope to not be such a stranger. I am thinking every Wednesday will be my blog day. We will see how that goes. Thanks for coming by.

So excited about tomorrow

Tomorrow Angie and I are heading north to go to a crop at Scrapdoodles which is a scrapbooking store in Northern Virginia. And the best part is we get to meet Von, the owner of Life Preservers Kit Club. I plan to work on my Costa Rica and Brazil albums and to work on some sketches. So look for some work in the next couple of days. Also changed my profile picture on here. I finally updated my hair getting rid of those grays. Thought I would add a splash of color. Can you see the maroon? My hair dresser is the bestest in the world. I love her. Megan at Art de Capelli. I highly recommend her.

I received some great news yesterday! You all know how I love sketches right? Well I applied for a design team for Miss Hippy Chick doing pages and I MADE IT. Woot!! Woot!! Cruise around the World!

I am on a cruise and I am loving it. It didn't take me long to pack. I don't have to worry about getting a sunburn. It is a Cruise around the World that Life Preservers kit club is hosting. It is an 8 week challenge. This is currently week 2. The first week we had to scrap something with hearts.

This week we had to use "beach colors". After finding the clue we were provided a picture of a beach in Barbados and had to use those same colors on our layout. Here is my take on this sketch. The photos are of my father in law.

I am enjoying the layout a week. Very doable for me. Now to share with you one of my handmade Valentines I made.

And last but not least a photo of my latest obsession. Any other? I love having others to play with.
This photo is actually of my mage but now I am mostly playing a hunter to level for awhile. Thanks for reading my blog!! And Happy Valentines Day!!! All my love!

Bring the Rain

I figured that was an appropriate title because of so many reasons lately. First off I have been wanting a decent snowfall for years. I haven't seen a good foot of snow since I was a little child and that was quite a few years ago. So this morning we were to get approximately 3 inches of snow with some ice on top of that. So what do we get instead? You guessed it... rain ALL DAY! Schools were closed and it has been nice being with Emma and my mother today but I digress.

Secondly, we all hear so many things with the poor economy. I have lost a considerable amount of my retirement just since October. So many have lost their jobs. No pay raises despite bills continuing to rise. With CHA this week we see how that has hit businesses. No Scenic Route.

And even more importantly peoples health. So many people have had loved ones with cancer or sudden illnesses or worse death. You are not guaranteed tomorrow people. Our Father loves us. He refines us through these fires! You just have to lay your trust in him. Someone at my church challenged us to post scripture on our Facebook each day this week. What a great challenge!! I would like to challenge you to do the same. What a great way to witness to others. So be thankful for what you do have. Be thankful for family. Be thankful for food on your table. And I know some of you grapple with that daily. It burdens me that some of my dear friends have to choose between medications for their children vs. food for their family. It just seems so unfair. But I know God has a much bigger plan. I heard this song on SpiritFM the other day and I wanted to share it with you. Please listen to the words and focus on the message.

Life Preservers Weekend Crop

Well I haven't gotten done nearly as much as I wanted too but I have completed a sketch to post for the crop with a sample and 4 layouts. Here they are:

This is the sketch that I drew for the crop.

And my take on said sketch. I used Rosa Moka paper, Elles Studio diecut calendar, Sassafras buttons, WRMK rub-ons, Tim Holtz chipboard and Ranger Inks, and MM paper. The pictures are of when Emma was baptized this summer.

This was a challenge that you had to do a page about someone you love with 10 reasons why. Picture of course is of my husband. I used Pink Paislee paper and rub-ons, Bazzill cardstock, Scenic Route chipboard and rub-on, Daisy D's rub-ons, 7 Gypsies stamps, and Fancy Pants transparency.

This challenge was to use office supplies and include journaling. This was Colorbox journaling cards, Doodlebug sticker letters, Chatterbox paper and felt stickers, Basic Grey rub-ons, Prima flowers, paper clip, and Paper Salon paper and stickers.
This challenge was to scrap something not someone. I used Cosmo Cricket paper, 7 Gypsies paper, Creative Imaginations sticker, MM felt alpha and diecut journal sheet, SEI diecut flowers, and Scenic Route diecut journal box.
My challenge has to be posted by 8 am EST but most of the others are 8 PM! I hope you can come participate. It has been a blast thus far!

I hope that the year 2009 is prosperous for all of you! 2008 has been a whirlwind of events and emotions for me. I won't bore you with all the details but suffice it to say the Lord is good! Two things that stand out for me is traveling to Costa Rica which was incredible and I am so glad that I shared this with my father and daughter. I would love to live there. Seriously! And second is work. I applied for the Trauma Nurse Coordinator position a couple of months ago pretty much thinking I had it in the bag. However the powers that be chose to hire someone with far less experience which was only limited to the hospital itself. Of course they can provide no reason why. Not that they have to mind you but I think I deserve one. I have applied for this job 3 times. The first two times I was upset but at least the applicants were experienced, seasoned providers of various disciplines in trauma. This time..... well I am just going to say I have dealt with a lot of anger over this. Don't get me wrong. I love what I do. Flight Nursing is everything I imagined it to be. I love knowing that I am helping people who truly need it, not someone using the Emergency Department for their primary care physician. I don't necessarily blame them I blame the health care system overall. I have to keep telling myself that it is Gods will not my own. However that does not always immediately eliminate the fleshy anger! Let me just say this.... Jeremiah 29:11

As far as 2009...... who knows what the future holds. I will be traveling a lot to scrapbooking events. My usual Scrappers Dream Vacations at least twice this year, to Tennessee in March for Twelve Fridays weekend, and to Kentucky in April for the Life Preservers Retreat. I am very excited to get to meet some of my online friends. I would love to make a living scrapbooking but that will not happen. But I do have some good news!! I am the Guest Design Team Member for January at Life Preservers. We are having a crop this weekend and I am doing the early bird challenge which is a sketch. :) I hope to see all my scrappy friends there.

Now I am going to post some of my favorite layouts of 2009. I can't think of a better way to greet the New Year!!

Christmas Presents

I hope all of you had wonderful Christmas! I wanted to share the calendar that was given this year. Me and 2 friends made 10 of these perpetual calendars as Christmas presents this year. Now I have to be honest here. My friend Heather broke her wrist earlier this year so was out of work for awhile and she did a lot of the grunt work on these. I owe her immensely for this! But I am so glad they are perpetual so that means no more calendars have to be made for family. Right? Well here they are....
One of the good things of this is scraps of paper were used for the calendar dates.
We purchased some Maya Road tins to put the extra dates, birthday photos, and months in. You can see one of them here in front of the calendar. I think they turned out great! :)

Also the Life Preservers Kit Club is having an online crop January 2-4th. Although it is my weekend to work I plan on getting my scrap on Saturday for sure! I hope you can join us for some wonderful challenges and creations!

Hello my beloved friends. I wrote a nice lengthy posts a couple of days ago and it went to the deep blue seas of cyberspace. Who knows! Anyhow I hope Christmas Day finds you all having had a great Christmas. My family and I will be doing our celebration tomorrow as me and dh's schedule did not allow us to do it earlier! Emma's Christmas was delightful Wednesday morning as my grandfather purchased her a horse. The horse is beautiful and I love seeing my daughter so happy but I do not think that my father made a very good decision. But what do you do?

Here is a picture of Ruby, Emma's Tennessee Walking Horse Morgan. I think that is what it is called. I have learning to do as well!

I decided this year that the Christmas stockings we had needed to be replaced. So i looked and looked for some that I liked and finally found some at Sears. But they needed a little altering, I added some ribbon and embellishments along with some iron on letters and I must say that they aren't bad at all!

And some final news. I applied for the Life Preservers Design Team. Since November I have been participating much more on their message board and have really enjoyed getting to know the ladies. It is weird how you can really feel a bond with others via the computer. Well I did not make the Design Team. Albeit I am upset but the ladies who made the DT are wonderful designers and are well deserving. And there is always next time right? But I did make Guest Design Team artist for January by getting second place in the sketch challenge. The winner made the design team so I was runner up! LOL Story of my life....2nd place. But I will take it. The Lord puts me where he wants me and it is his will not my own. Here is the page that I did using November kit from Life Preservers with the sketch that was provided.

Black Friday Crop

I did a couple of pages this weekend at the Life Preservers Club black friday crop. I also won a RAK of their November stamp. I am so excited!

This page includes pictures of my dd and dad at his house. I used the Studio Calico November kit.

This photo is for a food challenge. I used KI Memories Sheers, Kaiser Craft papers, and those lovely MM sticker letters that I love so much!
I think the most exciting thing for me is that these were from some sketches that I drew myself! I just need to figure out how to draw my sketches on the computer so I can share them. I haven't found my Adobe PSE disc so I convert it from PC to Mac. There must be an easier way! Well thanks for looking friends!

I hope that all my dear friends had a lovely Thanksgiving! I just completed my Studio Calico order. Some delish stuff as always! So now with all that tryptophan in my system I can't figure out why I am still awake. But I am...........tomorrow I need to set up my weight loss program. I have at least 50 lbs to lose. I have gotten my IPod loaded up including the NEW David Cook. Oh yeah!! Not to mention some Trace Adkins!

I want to show you a layout I did for a DT application for Creatively Yours. I was not chosen however it did allow me to use my Studio Calico kit for the first time. The picture is from my mission trip to Brasil! And I used Sketch # 3. Thanks for looking.

So they may not like it but I am very please with it. I love how the flowers and vines come over the edges. Well I leave you with some things I am thankful for this Thanksgiving:

This is from my own sketch! The verse is on a transparency provided in the kit. There were no alphabet in the kit other than the transparency sheet so I made my own by doodling on the patterned paper! The pictures are from Emmas Sparks Hike in 2006.

Why do we doctor our pictures? Are our memories as they are not precious enough? Why are we never content with what we have? Your children are the most precious thing in your eyes. (they should be at least) So why doctor their pictures? Yes I change my pictures to black and white, sepia toned, etc. I have even dabbed into digital scrap booking and I enjoyed it. But I sometimes wonder what is "enough"?

Here are some pictures from Emma's field trip last week! They visited Poplar Forest which is Thomas Jefferson's second home. And yes they are unaltered. LOL

I do not know firsthand the sacrifice that you have made but I am so very thankful for what you have done! My father served two tours of duty in Vietnam. And although he did come home safe and sound he now suffers many diseases as a result of Agent Orange exposure. The fact a soldier would put his/her health and life in jeopardy to protect his/her country just astounds me. I am in awe. You are all my heroes! Thank You! Here is a layout with a picture of my father I made awhile back. He is definitely "My Hero"!

but sadly I am not! I know I am very far behind on my blog. But then I see how far behind I am and it becomes insurmountable almost. We have had a lot of stuff going on around here. Currently Emma is on crutches. She has a severe sprain of her knee after tripping over our dog. My dad had surgery a second time on his hand thumb joint at the VA Hospital. My grandmother had a brief visit to the Emergency Department a little while back. She is fine now! And I have been working overtime at MedFlight. We are short a nurse and have recently had interviews but a decision needs to be made on whom they choose to hire. I also have been interviewing for Trauma Nurse Coordinator position. I have had 7 interviews thus far! A little incredulous I think as opposed to one panel interview. And I still have an interview next week. So I have been doing little on the blog posting and message board following. I do admit I have been a little fascinated with Yoville on Facebook as of late. Very addictive indeed! Well here are some photos of a mini album that I completed at the last Scrappers Dream Vacation.

Now I can't end this without mentioning that I am very envious of my friends Janet and Heather who are at a Scrappers Dream Vacation right now in Newport News. I am very jealous! Get those pages done girls!!!

I arrived back home yesterday evening from vacation. It was a nice time with family but I admit I am exhausted. I am back to work already for a 24 hour shift but I wanted to share some things I did while I was away last week!

I only caught a total of 3 fish the entire week! This is the best one I caught. A 19 inch flounder off the Oregon Inlet bridge! One of my favorite places to fish at Hatteras!

Having a wonderful vacation

in Rodanthe, NC with my family! Lots of surf fishing, albeit not very successfully. As a matter of fact I have been scrapbooking today. I completed 6 pages today using the Homegrown Summer Survival kit. I have my next assignment for the Faith Based Pages kit but am waiting on inspiration to hit! I had a wonderful birthday on the 5th. The Virginia Diner is always a stop on the way to Nags Head! They have a wonderful breakfast that really hits the spot!

So I need to list 6 Quirky Things About Me....

1. I have to have butter on my spaghetti!

2. I have this morbid fascination about picking my toes! The cuticles and dry skin! Weird I know!! But the rules are quirky!

3. When I am driving and I have to stop or turn I have to turn the radio all the way down to "think" about it!

4. I sleep with 2 noise makers at home. My circadian rhythm is off due to my job so this helps somewhat.

5. I wanted to be a Marine Biologist my middle school and early high school years and work with Humpback Whales in their natural environment. Didn't pursue this because I was too much of a family girl to be that far from home for studies or work!

6. I can not study in a messy space. Everything has to be clean and in its place before I can think!

I have never been much of a jewelry person until the last 3-4 years. Each year when I go to Myrtle Beach I stop by Vanity boutique and pick up some lovely earrings and necklaces. I love them. They are very reasonable. Well this year I did not make it to Myrtle Beach however I kept seeing this ladies handmade jewelry on crafters blogs. Lisa Leonard jewelry She has beautiful jewelry. I had the Make a Wish necklace made for me as seen on the website.

Of course with Warren & Lisa! A reminder of my undying love and devotion to my husband. I also got the pearl ear rings to match. Let me tell as beautiful as they are online. Kenner Road

Well I just peeped over at Willow Traders and I am so far behind on posts there. It is such a busy group that it overwhelms me. But I noticed that there is a new kit club called Kenner Road. The name of the kit club is named after a road that one of the DT members grew up one. Well the road I grew up on is called Burley Hollow Road. The Burley is my mothers maiden name. It is also the road that my mother was born and raised on. It is where her family home burned down and she lost all of her belongings due to lightning coming through a phone line. She lost her beautiful wedding dress and all of her childhood memories. She was actually in Kansas at the time with her newlywed husband (my father) on a return from a tour of duty in Vietnam. I can remember walking up my road to my grandmothers. They put a mobile home up where the house once stood. I never saw or knew of the house. I only know and remember the mobile home. I can remember granny and I laying on the sofa on opposite ends giving each other foot rubs and then playing some Bingo and eating Fudge Rounds. I can remember trying to practice my flute and she would tell me to "put that racket up". LOL I love her! She could see things about people that I never could foresee including my ex husband. She couldn't stand him. I never came out and told her about how he was physically and mentally abusive. Because I loved him. But she knew deep down it all! My grandmother passed away right after I graduated from college. I strongly believe that she held on to see me graduate. You see I was the first one in my family to graduate from college. Not to mention that her and my mother both had started nursing school and had not finished and I was graduating with a Bachelors in Nursing. Wow what sweet, dear memories! I love you grandma!!

I have heard so many references to Studio Calico kits and have perused them online a few times before. Well I bit the bullet, so to speak, and ordered one! Oh my goodness that has to be the yummiest kit I have ever laid my eyes and hands on. And you may think it is for wacky reasons. I will be the first to admit to you that I am borderline obsessive compulsive. Or what I like to call Type A personality. Well first off the box that it comes in is a Studio Calico Box. :)

Next the kit and add ons are in brown paper bags and are sealed with a Studio Calico sticker.

And the products in the kit are fabulous. Some of the new October Afternoon. And that apple paper is delish!!

Thanks Studio Calico for giving me my mojo back. Now.... do you have any time you can give me to be creative? LOL

I think to myself at least every other day that I do need to update my blog. I really do. But carrying out the action is a different story as you can tell. It seemed to take me forever to catch up from August. I was working 72 hour weeks and was at Summer Camp with our church the week of the 4th with no internet access. Summer Camp was an incredible experience. At least 24 children asked Jesus into their hearts. My daughter was one of them who was baptized at our church 8/12/08. Here are some photos from the past few special moments in my life!

Somehow these loaded backwards but I am too tired to upload in reverse. Here is my daughter on the first day of 3rd grade. Isn't she just adorable?

Well I did not make the DT for 4 Scrappy Sisters. I felt completely confident in the pieces I sent to them however I must not be the fit for their team. I have enjoyed the message board there so will continue to peruse it! I received my Homegrown Summer Survival Kit a couple of weeks ago. Here are some peeks:

Angie and I plan to start working on this soon! I leave next week for Summer Camp. I will be the Camp Nurse for the first time. Very excited to see how the Lord will work on those kids and I know he will work on me as well. Emma is going to see the Jonas Brothers in concert tonight. It was a last minute trip and I am so glad that her aunt is taking her. It will be an incredible experience for her.

Well the ENUFF meeting was today! And while very few people came, five including myself, it was a good start. We didn't have but about a weeks notice to agencies so hopefully the next meeting will have better representation. We received some good insight on other programs in the area. Most we already knew about. Mikey did an incredible job with his presentation. His heart is so into this program! His drive and determination make me proud! I have met a wonderful person recently! He has a passion for Emergency Medical Services that is to be revered. I have been in the Emergency Medical Field for 17 years. And it is easy to be callused to what one does. It doesn't mean that I don't care for the patients that I take care of. I care deeply. But after telling so many friends and family members that their loved ones have died for senseless reasons your heart gets hard. The deaths and injuries are so senseless. The mentation of that "It will never happen to me." is absurd. So many deaths that I see could have been prevented by someone putting on that seatbelt, someone putting that cell phone down while they were driving (I could be better about that one), and avoiding alcohol while driving. To die so young is so tragic. And as hard as my heart may be from what I do I still mourn when I have to tell a mother that her son is dead. That she won't see him graduate from high school. That she will never see him marry the love of his life. That she will never hold his children.... her grandchildren. I know God has an infinite and bigger plan! Thank goodness for that. But c'mon people! Let's make a difference. Mikey has started an organization called ENUFF! You can check out information at www.myspace.com/ivehadenuff.

He did a lot of stuff with the program in North Carolina and he is now here in Virginia trying to get the word out about it. It is a driver injury prevention program for starters. There are so many facets to this organization. His first meeting is this Tuesday at 2pm at Lynchburg General Hospital in the First Colony Conference Room # 2. I hope that people come out to hear what this program is all about. Let's say ENUFF to impacts that cause loss of life and let's make a positive impact on the future. I certainly have had ENUFF!

I have plenty to post! I really do! Just can't make myself take the time to do it! I have some really good news. This past weekend ScrapLove held a kickoff Crop for the Summer Challenge. Well I won "Queen of the Crop". I completed 10 pages. Here is the little blinkie that I got for winning.

Here are some of the pages that I created during the Kickoff Crop. This first one was a Sketch Challenge. Pictures are of my SIL and BIL with their daughter and the middle photo is of Emma and I. I need to smile. :)
This was a Patterned Paper only challenge. The pictures are of my daughter and her cousin. They both showed up at church Easter sunday 2007 wearing the same dress.
These are some photos of some of the plants and flowers in our yard. It was for an Ad Challenge.
This was a challenge to use the word "Wings" in the title and some form of wings on the page.

Oh I received my Homegrown Summer Program kit a couple of days ago. I will post pics of that later on today or tomorrow! And I have joined the 4 Scrappy Sisters forum! What a great bunch of ladies. Myriad of days

Well I have some decent days and some days where I have felt rather depressed! These personal issues I am going through have really shattered my soul! Thank goodness God is my glue and my foundation because he keeps my feet planted and me intact! I wish my mind didn't race a mile a minute. But on to a better note.......................

I just finished one of the best novels I have ever read. The Shack is a Christian novel! And for those of you who know me you know I love to read. I rarely find a book I dislike! However I have to say this is the best book BY FAR I have ever read. It is authored by William Young. Here is one of my favorite excerpts:

“Unless people speak the truth about what they have done and change their mind and behavior, a relationship of trust is not possible. When you forgive someone you certainly release them from judgement, but without true change, no real relationship can be established.”

That quote is so fitting for me right now! But I leave you with some recent pages! Enjoy! OH.... I didn't make the Chatterbox Design Team. Yes I am disappointed. It looks like a lot of "famous" scrappers made the cut. So if that is what they are looking for then by all means. I will find the Design Team that fits my style. In due time!

OK this is a layout I completed in Raleigh using Stampin Up papers, staples, Kaiser Craft pearls, and a DCWV rub-on. The picture is of my dd (far left) and two of her fellow cheerleaders season before last. I love those snaggle tooth grins! :)

And you know I had to alter my nametag for the Scrappers Dream Vacation! Used some glimmer mist, Doodlebug jewels, and Heidi Swap damask rubon.
This is a picture of my father between his two tours of duty to Vietnam! This was 1968. I used Bazzill cardstock, Tim Holtz (actually made a bookplate into the brackets) chipboard, Scenic Route chipboard letters, Chatterbox patterned paper, and the chipboard circle I am unsure of off the top of my head. Used a chalk ink to ink the bracket. Isn't my dad handsome?
Now these photos are of my daughter and my husband with the puppy Ansel. I used Sassafras Lass and Luxe Designs patterned paper, Love Elsie patterned paper, American Craft Thickers, Ellison punch (hearts), Queen and Company felt, and a 7 Gypsies tag.

This is a layout I have done for the grandparents scrapbooks of dds school pictures. I used Pink Paislee PP, KI lace, AC stickers and Thickers, and Prima flowers.

This is a layout from last years 4th of July of dd with sparklers. All products used are the new SR Liberty line! And some AC Thickers.
Included below are more pictures of dd at local skating rink. I used some AC Thickers, CI rub-ons, and the 12 Fridays July kit! Also some lovely primas!
Pictures are of dd's bunny she used to have at papas. I used the Threading Water punch and some MME patterned paper, AC sticker journal box, 7 Gypsies sticker, and Doodlebug sticker letters.

I have lots to catch up with on my blog! The weekend before last I went to Chantilly for the Great American Scrapbook Convention. It was a decent time! I did get ill the last day there and could not go to DC. I am bummed about that. This past weekend I went to the Scrappers Dream Vacation in Raleigh. Well I am happy and sad! My time on the Scrapvivor challenge ended this morning! After getting a total of 35 points and completing more scrapbooking and cardmaking in 12 days then I did the whole previous year I feel really good. I am sad that it ends for me because I really was looking forward to the upcoming challenges and had little time to scrap the past 3 days. But I have to admit it was time consuming. So I have been trying to find my dining room table underneath the melees of patterned paper, thickers, and rub-ons. I just had a nice long post and lost it somehow but here we go again! :) I am participating on Willow Traders in a challenge called Scrapvivor. Every three days we get a new challenge and earn points based on those challenges. There are two tribes. The Bling Babes and the Scrap Monkeys. I am the latter! Ew Ew Ah Ah! LOL The first challenge was to create monochromatic layouts. I was a little intimidated by this challenge but once I got started I found that I really enjoyed it. Although we Monkeys did not win the first challenge I have faith that we will win the second challenge. The second challenge is making cards based on sketches provided to us. I have been more productive with this Scrapvivor doing projects than I have in a long time if not ever! Here are my pages from Challenge # 1:

Today is Emmas last day of school! She only goes in 2 hours. Not sure if that is worth the time to go but I am excited to spend some quality time with her this summer! She is growing right before my eyes into a young lady! Here is a picture that is a few months old! :)

I have also signed up to do Heather Preckels Scrapbooking Your Faith course! It is week 1 and I need to make that layout! Heather always makes beautiful layouts but the fact that she is so open about her faith is such an admirable trait. You can see it is the foundation of her being! Gods provision is great in his time! He is truly blessing my friends. I am so happy for them. Carrie, who I went to Brazil with, and her husband are adopting a son and may have him by the end of the month! I am so happy for her. I only learned last week that they were considering adoption. They will make wonderful Godly parents. You should hear her sing! I am so glad that the Lord has her at Hyland Heights Baptist Church because she is so beautiful and has a sweet instrument.

Also my former Sunday School teacher picked up her baby that she adopted from China. This is a process that she started over two years ago. She has shared pictures of her and her daughter Michaela and it brings tears of joys to my eyes. She too will be a Godly mother.

For Memorial Day I scrapped some! I did not make the fourth cut of the Gauntlet contest. I am ok with that. :) So are some of my recent creations! For the first round we had to scrap something about ourselves! I had a coworker die earlier in the week and did not have time to devote to this. By the time I did I didn't have any supplies with me so I took this envelope and ripped it for my background page.

Then I used some medical tape for my title. The rest is stuff I did have on me that I am using to make my Costa Rica mini album.
Here is Angie at my house scrapping on Memorial Day. We were watching for bargains online and uploading pictures to ArtsCow. By the way www.artscow.com has a sign in special where you can get 400 free prints. I just received my first order and they are really nice. Shipping was about $12 and they ship from Hong Kong and rapidly I might add. If you sign up tell em I sent ya! LOL
This page I started a couple of months ago and just needed to put the title on. So I finished it Monday.
The page below is from a Life Preservers kit. I believe it was the May kit. It includes Fancy Pants products. The pictures are of Emma in time out when we were building our house. She does look like she is being punished severely doesn't she?
My first page with Pink Paisley product. Can I just say Yummy. If you know me you know that i LOVE paisleys. And if you name your business that. Well...... These pictures are from last summer at my parents house. Do you think she is camera shy? LOL My rub-ons that I used for the verse did not rub-off so I had to go over them with a marker. Actually this was from a www.twospotteddogs.com kit. April I believe.

I hope everyone is having a marvelous weekend! It is my weekend to work and holiday weekends always seem to be busy! I am going to a crop tonight with some friends this evening and am really excited. I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Memorial Day! Don't forget the sacrifices of time and sometimes lives of our soldiers. They are the true heroes!

My neice graduated last night. I am so proud of her. She is a beautiful, strong woman of the Lord.

You can really tell how fast time flies by your blog! I can't believe it has been that long since I posted. I have been teaching a couple days a week in addition to my usual shift and an additional 12 hours in the week. I have worn myself down and have been feeling it today! Well I am going to keep this brief as I want to try to be more productive at home today! I leave you with a couple of more pictures. It is a picture of the May Faith Based Pages kit and my creations from it. Also a picture of Emma playing soccer.

This holiday ranks on up there as one of my tops. I was really worried that I wouldn't get to scrap today! I went to my LSS www.scrapbookbungalow.com as they had a yard sale and some new goodies. Look at the damage I done.

SEI looks to be making a come back. Really loving the new releases! Faith Based Pages is having a crop this weekend. I posted a sketch challenge. I have had this sketch in my head for months. Well my Adobe PSE that I got for Christmas doesn't work in my Mac so I had to hand draw it. But I scrapped a layout with the May kit tonight. I added the sticker letters and flowers. Here is the sketch and my interpretation of it!

Well I hope my peeps are getting their scrap on this weekend. I might have to do one more page before I go to bed. Got to get up in the morning to worship my Lord and Savior!

Trying to play catch up!

We made it back safely! It was such a blessed trip! I enjoyed spending some quality time with my family. We did so many enjoyable activities and my daughter tolerated everything really well. She got motion sick the first couple of days but I got some medicine for her down there that was very effective. I will share some more photos in the next few days. I am happy and sad to begin the journey home. I miss my Boo Bear (my dh) and my doggie Ansel! I do not look forward to having to work again. LOL I have been spoiled. See you soon!

We are living the life. My cousin has a beautiful place here. We are staying in their apartment. They are building a house on their business farm which is spectacular. This picture is their apartment. It has a pool outside which is very refreshing since it is hot here. Been in the 90's the past two days.
Today we went to the Waterfall Canopy Tour. Emma was a trooper and did not hesitate to zip down the lines. It was a blast.
This is a view from the resort down the street. Love my hair? LOL I learned that hairspray will be needed tomorrow. But isn't that view spectacular. I am going to convince dh to move here!
I will try to keep you all up to date with the trip! I did bring some scrapping supplies to work on album for this trip while I am here. Emma got very car sick on the 2 hour ride from San Jose airport to the apartment. Poor thing! But she has been fine today!

Well I must share about another friend of mine. Her name is Heather. She is a firefighter/paramedic that actually serves as Captain at the local fire department here. She is one bright cookie! I have known Heather since the 80's when our parents worked together and forced us to go to see New Edition together. Who knew? LOL Well Heather completed her first triathlon Sunday. I am so proud of her. She made it look effortless.

The bottom photo is from left to right me (sorry about bad hair worked the night before I went to see her and was tired), Heather, and my cousin Janet! My scrappin buddies!

Well I will be spare the next couple days as I leave Thursday evening for Costa Rica. Going to spend some time with family! I need a break!

Stay with me here! I may get on a tangent on this post! I have been pretty philosophical this evening. It seems like I am always striving lately in my mind to deepen my relationship with my heavenly father! Why do we always fall into this trap of trying to find earthly things to complete us? I have taken on all these jobs and purchased all these scrapbook supplies and watch all these tv shows trying to find myself. I know deep down I am looking in all the wrong places. My joy doesn't come from within! I need to read that love letter that my father wrote me! He loves me! He doesn't love me because I think I am a fairly decent scrapbooker. As much as I would like to think my job earns me rewards I know it does not. It does not matter what drug I administer, what therapy I provide because Gods plan is what will be fulfilled (Jeremeiah 29:11). And while I do not always agree with it I know it is God's will and for his greater good. Lots of my days at work I see people die. I see families tell their grandfather bye for the last time on earth! I caress peoples shoulders as they grieve their loved ones loss. I try to, somewhat, hold in the weeping my heart feels. Sometimes I feel like my feelings are calloused from experiencing this myriad of severe emotions so often. But I have to step back. Remember again that is it Gods will. While it may be sad and seem unfair I have to remember God put me in my role for a reason. He may have wanted me there to give that mother a hug after I told her that her son died. He may have wanted me there to hold that old ladies hand as she leaves her family to go to a hospital far from home! I was listening to Jonathen Falwell on the way home from work this evening. Albeit his sermon was aimed more at college kids God used him to talk to me! He said "You may question God! Ask him 'Why do you want me to do this?'. Tell him that you aren't prepared. That you don't have what it takes." But you know what. God has brought me to this calling and he has and will continue to equip me. Who am I to question him? Now another thing I have been struggling with lately is my weight. While I am not morbidly obese I have gotten "healthy" since my dd's birth. I have lost 20 lbs since the fall! But I have gotten stagnant. I need to remember to tell myself when I want those cheese fries, milkshake, and burger that my body is God's earthly vessel. I need to maintain my "equipment". So what better stimuli then that do I need to make good healthy decisions?!!
So to make my long post short (I know a little too late) I have a challenge for you! Let's pursue that relationship with our creator! Step away from that computer and television and dig in his word! See what he wants to communicate to you! Listen to him beckon and call you! Remember it isn't about you! It is about the kingdom! Let me know how you do with this! I know it is a challenge but no one ever said an abundant life would be an easy life! I leave you with a recent page. Thanks for listening and looking!
This is from a www.littleredscrapbook.com kit that I received a few months ago. I no longer sub to them! My attempts at cutting back. :) But the pictures on this layout are of my dear friend Angie and her dh! She is a beautiful soul! I pray for her daily! Angie I just want you to know I love ya girl! God loves you too! I used some Stickles with this kit! I like them much better than I anticipated I would. I drew my stitches with my white SU pen. I cut the chipboard book label in half to make the brackets for my title. And the holes on the ends are used elsewhere on the page. Can you find em? :) Also added a Hambly journaling box rub-on. I did a sketch from ScrapLoves Cybercrop today! It has been very nice scrapping this weekend. I worked on my calendars yesterday evening. So did my dd Emma. She is more on the ball than I. She is doing a 2009 calendar whereas mine where supposed to be 2008 however they are now April 2008-April 2009. So here is my take on the sketch. It actually originated from March Pagemaps. This is my first time playing with images on my new puter so i need to play to improve that. Thanks for looking!

1. As a child I had a fascination with the Loch Ness Monster. I read every resource on it I could.
2. I wanted to be a Marine Biologist when I grew up but didn't want to be that far from home (my parents) to work with humpback whales.
3. I play the flute! Almost majored in music after I decided not to do marine biology but didn't think the pay was that great.
4. I work 4 jobs. 1 full time and 3 part time. Flight Nurse full time, trauma nurse specialist 4 hours a week, home health 1 day a week, and do assessments for an insurance company as needed.
5. Bravo TV is one of my favorite channels. Love Project Runway and Top Chef.
6. Male figures I am crazy over include Keanu Reeves, George W. Bush, Trace Adkins, and Ty Pennington! Yummy!
7. The biggest fish I ever caught I used gum as bait. LOL
